EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILM 2019

A lone woman is forced to confront her body whilst those around her voice their experiences of living in their own skin. Experimental short film where sound and music is placed on equal footing with the visuals.

SKIN aims to explore the concept of body image without any intended agenda. The film aims to treat the score and sound as equal to the visuals. It was premiered in the summer of 2019 with a live quartet soundtrack before arriving on YouTube as a fixed media piece later that year.

Emily was commissioned to convert SKIN into an installation for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s International Women’s Day in early 2020.

RESEARCH

Emily’s academic specialism is film and television music. She holds an MMus and BMus (Hons) degrees from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has been invited to speak on her research at renowned institutions such as the University of Liverpool.
